I've found that QCD is noticibly faster at converting mp3s to wavs. I'm not talking about a matter of seconds here; QCD finishes in less than half the time. I used to go get a cup of coffee while this process ran, now I'm urging people to sell their coffee stocks.
My questions are, how does QCD do this so much faster than other programs (dMC audio convertor, Acoustica mp3 to wav converter, Jet Audio, etc)? And, is there any loss of quality my tin ear is missing? Is a conversion that takes longer better?
The files I convert are all spoken word or Old Time Radio mp3s encoded at very low bitrates, 32/22 for the most part. I do this so they can be put on minidisc.
