I've caught very old and cool bug!:) You can try to reproduce:
1. get some mp3s into playlist,
2. tag them with the same Artist and different Names, e.g.
Devin Townsend, Bad Devil
Devin Townsend, Life
leave Album field empty.
3. add near hundred random-tagged tracks.
4. Setup Quick Track like this:
show track names - yes
show album names -yes
show playlist number - yes
show total times - yes
sort by - Artist/Album/Track#
separate popup for each: Artist - yes, Album - yes
Now open Quick Track. It shows only FIRST track (in our example - Bad Devil) of no-Album artist:)
