Hi.
Just few words about this whole "new version arrival" thing.
I'm using QCD for a long time now, I always carefully observed forums (although signed in recently:) and promoted QCD among friends. Current version is nearly perfect - because of its stability, features. And of course next versions (if any) might bring even more things to like:).

As Paul Quinn has more important things to care, he should do one thing:
after long months of silence, he could at last make a statement. No news is IMHO far worse than bad news. Is project just stalled? Or maybe it stopped forever?
One simple statement from Paul - either saying that right now he doesnt have time or plans to devolop QCD or devolopment is stopped, or new version is on its way:) - would definitely clear things out.

PS. or at least someone could update http://www.quinnware.com/cardware.php :)

With the current delay in what was preceived to be a new release of QDC [AKA QMP (or qmp to be cuter)] I can tell we are geting antzy and may be in need of a timeout.
Now I see a thread "closed", from tempers flaring up I guess. :dead: Wad's Up wid dat?
Long live QDC (qmp- whenever!)~

btw, it was spelled QCD ;) (Quintessential CD Player) not QDC... :ponder:

I don't know about the rest of you folks but I am beginning to have some serious doubts. I know what Paul said about the problem, but I am thinking that it could be a much bigger problem than we realize. Before I came to QCD, I had used Ultraplayer for quite a while until I found out that it was no longer being supported. I e-mailed the top man and told him how much I liked it and asked him a question about the player. He responded and said he appreciated all the kind remarks I made but that although it was not what they really wanted to do, they had decided to quit and take other jobs due to all the political pressure that was being put on them. He said that they were just going to leave it posted for everbody that wanted it to use and hoped they would enjoy it. He said they just simply did not feel it was worth it to continue under that kind of pressure.
When they hung it up, I personally felt it was the best player on the internet but there has been some great improvements in the last few years and naturally Ultraplayer doesn't have any of those.
I thought it was better than QCD at the time but since it was no longer being developed and QCD was being developed and very actively supported and I truly believed QCD was going to be the best player anywhere, I decided QCD is the one I would stay with.
Because of what happened to Ultraplayer (political problems) which is what Paul said the problem was here and because it has been so long since we have had anything happening with the player, or any futher word from Paul, I'm wondering if the same fate is heading our way. I certainly hope not but regardless of what you may think about him, Bill Gates carries a big pocketbook.

Me too. The thing that upsets me about that is that (if this was true, which I sure hope it isn't) that would mean Paul is being dishonest. Again, I'm not saying Paul is lying to us (I don't think he would), but the thoughts are starting to run across my mind. :(

What could he be truely lying about? He hardly said anything. Not to forget that his bro Matt knows little more than we do (see here (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3378&page=2&pp=20&highlight=surprised) ) But i could be wrong...

The "polical issues" thing could be a lie... something to cover up that he has neglected the project. Who knows? I doubt it's true, but it's possible.

Paul's already taken a long time off. Why lie about taking more? Afterall, he doesn't really owe us an explanation. That said, it would be nice to really know what's going on. It appears that some of us take this really seriously. Personally I can't see why outside of QCD providing a nice community here. I mean QCD (mostly, except for the occasional meltdown :ponder: ) works just great. There isn't a whole lot of development with the other players that I see. There's room for improvement which would be nice to see. But until I feel the need to move to a new player I don't feel a real sense of urgency about a new release.

I agree with this. It's true that it's been a long time since we've had a dev build to play with... but it's coming down the hill, just be patient.

I don't know. Maybe he is taking a longer break and doesn't want to disappoint us? Maybe he wants to screw with our heads? Maybe he wants to see how long people will keep waiting for? I have no idea. People are weird. I don't think Paul would do that, but I really don't know him, either.

yeesh, what a thing to say man
I'm not accusing Paul of lying. I highly doubt he is, but it's possible. People are weird, man. :(

But until I feel the need to move to a new player I don't feel a real sense of urgency about a new release.
I do. New version brings new features which bring new skins/plugins/forum posts/etc. Things have been going slow enough lately. We just had a month and a week with no new/updated skins, and 30 days with no new plugins.

Point.
That said, the more powerful media library features are becoming more attractive to me, and I haven't even really used one yet.
I wanted to just listen to stuff randomly the other day, so I loaded up a lot of music with shuffle. But I didn't want to listen to albums that are just clubmixes, and hence 70minutes a track. If I could have limited my playing to songs < 10 minutes or so that would have been fantastic.
I should probably at least resample the audio playing field again, since its been a long time since I last did that.

That skin looks great! I'd use it. As for permission, you have it if you want to post it.

And the demise of QCD is greatly exaggerated. I'm a little embarrassed that I'm missing my 'release date' by almost 2 months right now. I know I'm being vague about stuff, but I will be blabbing about all when it comes out and the issues that have slowed things down should be more apparent.

Thanks guys! And no looking glum!

In July i'll be in Italy with a couple of mates. We intend to visit Naples, Pompei (ive been there already actually), and climb the Vesuvius and the Etna. Both are volcanoes in Italy. The Etna is in sicily and is over 3000 metres high and very active. In August ill be back but i cant say exactly when. Probably sometime early in August.

Thanks for showing concern guys. Makes me feel very much part of this community.

Is there something with guys named Paul tending to miss release dates? At the end of 2003, Paul from phpBB (as in Paul S Owen, aka psoTFX) proclaimed 2004 as the Year of phpBB 2.2. They STILL have yet to even release a beta of that, although at the beginning of this year they decided to start calling it 3.0 instead. :P
