Using the Crossfading DirectSound plug-in... (plug-ins > plug-in Browser > Playback) Disable fade in and fade out on the crossfade tab. Enable seamless gapless playback. Disable "remove leading and trailing silence". Some media types will have better results than others due to the digital architecture of the media. For example, the MP3 files saved by some encoders do not allow for totally gapless playback.
