What do you think of this?

I just started it yesterday and was wondering what you thought about it, and to get some ideas on how to make it better.

its very clean, but it needs to have a little bit of a "wow" factor to it. Right now, its just gray/silver which doesnt excite anyone and we already have couple of those type of skins....however, you do seem to have good photoshop skills, so you should be able to make it look cool.

I like it but it reminds be a lot of some of the Itunes clones.
I think it would be cool if some how the buttons on the playlist was more "like buttons". Im not too fond of the text buttons.
Anyway, always good to see new skinners! :)

I'd suggest trading the text for buttons. Not even text-based buttons, but just icon-based buttons. Add turns to +, Delete turns to -, Eject to the Eject symbol, etc. Make little "shuffle" and "repeat" icons.

You could make these small, and one below the other as you have them now, leaving room to extend your playlist more to the left. Or if you want to keep the words, you could also make a long button including the little icons and the words next to it.

Could I also suggest maybe a search bar extending under the playlist? Or turn the words to icons, and put them along the bottom along with a search bar?

I agree with the other posts, it does remind me of skins inspired by iTunes. Actually, it looks just like Candy Glass (http://www.quinnware.com/skins.php?skin=30). But it does look good, though. Nice work!

I'm almost finished with it but I can't figure out how to make them detach.

You have to use different extensions. I.e. the colour coding is different for different extensions. See the control colour legend (http://www.quinnware.com/downloader.php?file=/bin/devzone/skins/QCDSkinningColorMap.zip).

I got that. The playlist extension color is 111111, the eq is 333333, and the main is 000000. I can't get them to detach.

I figured it out. I was using SkinFamily.ini instead of SkinKid.ini. I only have one mode right now so SkinFamily.ini wouldn't work.

Really nice! The play/ff/rew etc. buttons are very nice and the textures and "LCD" is looking good. The buttons on the playlist seems a bit dull though... Im not sure it would be a good idea to color them in differrent colors, but maybe a single color would be good. Maybe color the close, minimize, always on top buttons too to give it more "life"...
I hope you make a nice optional visual window that can be place on the right side of the LCD.
Or maybe make the LCD a bit bigger (double the size of playcontrols extension) and make a visual window the same size as the playcontrols extensions and make all 3 (playcontrol, LCD and visual) extensions dragable. That way you could arrange it like this depending on what you like, while stile maintaining the current setup: (1: playcontrols, 2: visuals, 3: LCD, 4: playlist
