Yes indeed. I am using it on my computer at home right now. Pretty cool!

Too bad it can't display more info about the current song (bitrate, length, format etc).

What exactly is the QCD meter?
It shows you the artist and title info of the current playing track in QCD.

Thanks. Sounds cool.
Can somebody please summarize what Samurize does. I've heard of it before, but I still don't know what it is.

From their website samurize.com

"Samurize provides all the information you need about all your computers in one central location on your desktop. Skinnable and customizable, Samurize features a script plugin system which allows you to add the information you want, when you want it.

Some examples of information that Samurize can provide right on your desktop are: CPU Usage, Disk utilization, Network traffic, System temperatures, Top processes, Memory information, WMI classes and much much more..."

I use it myself, very handy.

Oh, that sucks. They just got QCD support. Look at SysMetrix... Xymantix made it and it is cooler than a pimp with a cane.

You can get it show a lot of different kind of information about your computer (and some other things too). CPU and memory usage, free diskspace, nettraffic, weather, tv-programs and the list goes on and on...

I installed Samurai to see it's QCD integration. Couldn't get it to do anything. No explanations, and nothing comes up, but I got an icon to appear by the clock. Menu options from it don't do anything. It was a good way to get frustrated in under 2 minutes.

I'll agree with all of that... then came the uninstall. :cheeky:

Yep, same here. I suppose ya have to download plugins or skins or something before it works.

no it works out of the box - at least if you selected to install the media plugins with samurize. if you have the tray icon, you are on the right way. right-click it and "select config file". these config files are kind of projects which define what samurize should display. for example, select advmediainfo.ini, that should work right away. the advmediainfo2.ini should also work at once, but it shows for only 15 seconds at the beginning of a song.

the nicest thing is the spectrum. to get it working, right-click the tray icon and select either spectrum_vis.ini or spectrum_vis2.ini. the rest of the configuration is done in qcd then.
you have to select the visualization plugin that has been installed (Samurize Visualization 1.4) and either use a skin that has a visualization area or open the external visualization window. then - enjoy

EDIT: btw, qcd has the best spectrum of all supported players, because it is the only one that uses the "resonation band" approach. all other players use fft which look kinda dumb ;)

The programme puts plugins into the QCD directory i found out. One in the visuals section and the other i cant remember. The uninstall doesn't delete them so i had to delete them manually.

right, it installs the plugins QCDSamurizeVis.dll and QCDSamurizeInfo.dll, the first is for serving spectrum and waveform data while the second serves general playlist data to samurize. however, the installer is supposed to remove those on uninstall. i will hand that bug report over to the samurize deverlopers.

if you want a progress bar in Samurize to go with QCD, use the winamp thingy.. I know sounds weird, but it works for me here.

Samurize 1.5 has just been released and this version will also delete its plugins on uninstall ;)

I guess no one is aware of this, but the Winamp plugin in Samurize also works with QCD. After switching to one of my very old Samurize configs, back when I used winamp, all of the info showed up without a problem.
