if compy is on, qcd is runnin'.

which reminds me; for those of you who complain about my skins lacking minimize/close buttons, now you know why. (plus, i'm a right-clickaholic..)

Nope can't say I do.

I've downloaded it quite a few times...even when it was first released.

But within the last year it was mostly to explore how its skinned and to try some skins by cubs and xymantix. Can't say I like the player a lot though. Espically not goina skin it since there's no resizable playlists or AA. I do like how it runs sonique vis's though :):)

I have it starting up with windows for those rare times I reboot

There are five active computers in the house. All are rigged for high quality multimediia. All have QCD loaded. There is at least one instance of the player running if people are awake.

All the time, all the time, all the time.
God, I don't know how many times I've installed foobar or Winamp to see if they've gotten better. And then I realize I'm forgetting that some particular feature I need is only in QCD.
God, what a good player. Now only if Paul could nail the DSP bugs, it'd be perfect :)

Of course. It goes against my nature as a human not to use it

Yes, I use it all the time. Excellent program. When I asked for player advice from friends I was pointed towards Winamp, but I just can't get on with that player. As I've said before elsewhere, QCD does exactly what it says on the tin, A relative novelty in this day & age. Or am I just too cynical. :D That was a rhetorical question.

if the computer is on QCD is running (only not running when I have to reboot after an install of something) and, more often than not, playing. I came across QCD when I was looking for a way to display what I was playing at the time and found Virtual Prince's "Now Playing" and haven't looked back since.

I haven't even tested a new player since because this does exactly what I want, how I want and when I want.

In other words, it's great :)

I listen music exclusively on QCD. If at office my workstation is streaming music from Shoutcast with QCD. If at home (or on the road) I listen to either Shoutcast or to my MP3 collection.

QCD runs on my computers except when I shut them down!

Since Paul made QCD for himself first, I'm pretty sure he uses it though...

well... shame on me, but most of the time Winamp 2.xx is running...
cause i can control it with my Logitech KeyBoard...

QCD is pretty good, but i only can control it with my KeyBoard, when the Player is the active Application...
(when i change to Opera or PhotoShop or whatever, i cant control it anymore)
i hope you know what i mean... well it sucks if english isnt your mother tongue :( and you cant explain sth so others realy know what you mean... however...

the skins in QCD are realy great
functions are realy usefull
and well, its getting better and better

so if theres any working !!! "Logitech-KeyBoard Function-Button"-Support in a upcoming Version, WinAmp will be totally replaced by QCD.

silent greets, and sry for my bad english :(

p.S: ah, btw. : hi to all
i'm just new here and after reading most of the Thread, i'm thinking of creating a own skin...

Get the HotKeys plugin! You can control all major functions of QCD even when it's not the active application.

Welll that seems odd. QCD should work with most logitech keyboards! (Without the hotkey plugin.)
QCD places this line in players.ini (Found in the ITouch directory) when it is installed:

QCDPlayer=key,qcdplayer.exe,PlayerCanvas,xxx,xxx,Y ,T,R,W,E,0,1,QCD Player

Try checking if it is in the players.ini file and if not either add it or reinstall QCD.

If you reinstall your logitech drivers the players.ini file will be replaced and you have to add the above line manually or reinstall QCD.

hmmm at the moment im contemplating the use of winamp 5, the library, the instant playlist flick thing (see that thread to find out what the hell im talking about), the modern skin (even though it is a little oversized), and the number of times song played stats.... yet the chunkiness, qcd with free ripping, usually faster (even though sometimes qcd seems to (come close to) hang(ing) trying to read track info...), better skins, lack of commercial crap by aol...
and so i ponder...

qcd does not have better skins than winamp 5. Give me invicta, mmd3, mercury, zygote, cannes, OHE3xp, buster, anexa over any qcd skins...no offense guys, but those are masterpieces.

well now that those 5 seconds of winamp 5 (winamp 5 - use it for 5 seconds and discover how crap it is...) insanity are over, qcd has once again taken over the role of 'da one and only mp3 playa'... what was i thinking???

Yes,yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Why use the rest when QCD's the BEST. If I didn't think so, it would go the way of all the rest - to the trash can and I would start searching for one I felt was better.

IMHO QCD has skins just as great as half of those Chicubs mentions. Thats IMO as a user who'll never be a skinner... (Though I would like to see some antialiasing on the edges in QCDs skins. )

I don't know how your keyboard works, but in mine, there is a hotkey function. This allows you to set certain buttons to activate certain hotkeys (like ALT+F12). I then used the hotkeys to assign hotkeys to the buttons on my keyboard. I used CTRL+ALT+[F9-F12]. It was cool.

Another way that might be possible is if you keyboard allows it to run shortcuts. If you download the Tray Controls plugin, you'll get this application called WM_APP. Then you can make shortcuts like
"C:\Program Files\WM_APP\WM_APP.exe" /play
Of couse, if your keyboard is dumb like mine, it will eliminate everything outside of the quotations... Yeah... That pissed me off until I noticed the hotkey thing.
Hope you can get someting figured out... :)

:D Hahaha... Yeah I had the 5 second thing, too. Only I would keep QCD even if something better came out, just for skinning.

hm... well...
my KeyBoard : Logitech® Internet Navigator? Keyboard Special Edition --> Logitech HomePage (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&contentid=5013&crid=1&detail=2&countryid=24&languageid=1)

*) i have some Special-Keys like : e-Mail, Messanger/SMS, Webcam, iTouch, Search, Shopping, Favourites,
My Home, and F-lock-Key(so i can turn off the Windows-"F1"-"F12"-Functions and asign them special Functions)
*) and i do have keys to control my Music/Video-Players...
"Play/Pause", "Stop", "Next", "Back" and a Wheel to control the Volume
*) and some more special keys ( yeah... i know... less is more  )

Keys explained on the Logitech Homepage (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?countryid=24&languageid=1&page=products/usertype/sohotopics&CRID=460&parentCRID=268&contentID=6162)

my Software Version of iTouch is 2.15.264
(hm.. okay... 3 days ago they released a new version... omg  )

however, when i do play Colin McRae Rally3©®, Quake3Arena©® or any other Game, i dont want to Press "CTRL+ALT(+F1)" or sth like that to control my Music-Player....
i just want to press the Logitech "Play"-Button i have :(

well... i'm going to install the new version of the iTouch-Software now.
if the problem is solved, all is fine... if not... hm... i'll try the hotkey-Plugin and i'll sue Logitech :p

thank you very much indeed!

Yes and no... it all depends.

The players I use are 1by1 player, QCD, Winamp 5 and foobar2000. I use 1by1 quite a lot because I love the fact that it eats barely any CPU at all. I recently installed the new Winamp 5 out of curiosity and I like it a lot, been using that a lot recently. I like foobar too, it's very flexible. I use QCD v1.27 for playing CD's, I love it's simplicity, and I rarely use the latest QCD anymore. At one point in time I'd use nothing but QCD but nowadays I'm a bit more relaxed about it all. QCD is good but there's other great players out there too, and 1by1 kicks the most ass! Only a 48kb download, no installation, easy on the CPU, can accept Winamp plugins and play back my mpc files.

Yep! I really do use it! And since I installed the Shoucast lister----it's all that I use.

Next question.................Why don't I use the MusicMatch Pro, JetAudio, or WinAMP anymore? Cos' they suck compared to the QCD !

I don't know if everyone here uses QCD, so... Do you?Let's say this...QCD is the only player that I can use to play MP3s while running a browser and a P2P client simultaneously. All the other ones hog more CPU.

So do I use QCD? Like a Shake N Bake bag. Holla!
