Currently Quintessential will ask for a username and password when it gets an http authentication request. (For example, I have my mp3s available from home through a web server but it is all password protected.) That's great! However, if I'm playing through a playlist, it asks for the username/password for each file. It gets to be a bit of a pain entering username/password for every song!

So it would be nice to have some way of entering this information once and have Quintessential cache it somewhere for future reference. I've looked all over and can't see that this is a feature I can turn on, nor is it something requested already (that I can tell).

Other players do this; it's fairly essential to me for my music-listening pleasure at work.

If there's a way to do this through a plugin, let me know and I'll look more into doing that. (I'm brand new to Quintessential, but not to coding.)

Thanks!

I've never encountered any password-protected streams or anything, but does the user:password@http://server.com format work?

I don't really have that option since it is separate catalog software in php I'm using. I guess I could go hack the php, but that kind of misses the point.

Previously, using winamp, a dialog would pop up, I'd enter user/pass once, and it would remember that for the subsequent files. Quintessential asks every time.

Oh, well. Since installing Quintessential I've had two blue screens. This is a box at work that is almost never rebooted. I can't guarantee Quintessential is doing this, but that's all that has changed recently. So I'm probably going elsewhere for the time being.
