Goto here www.quinnware.com/devzone.php then download the Skin Development Doc 4.50. Read that.

Also, you can open any skins you download (rename then to a .zip file) by unzipping them. Use the skin dock and look at the opened skin files to learn what to do.

You dont need to read the whole manual in one go. This is how i got started: It's really simple to make a skin. First make body colour-coded maps of your skin in a main bitmap (bmp) where each colour represents a function of the player. These maps include main body, playlist, encoder, etc. Really you dont need more like this bitmap unless you want to use extensions and overlapping extensions, for e.g. the equaliser, visuals, etc. Get the "Map Control Color Legend" in the Dev zone.
Then you need the same amount of corresponding bitmaps for texture / skin of player. This is the hard part, creating the graphics and making them fit exactly onto the maps described above. Im trying to make a skin myself and believe that if this is done properly the skin will be attractive to use.
This should get you started, dont worry about *.ini files yet. Anyways you can easily find out about it in the manual. Remember to have a good theme for your skin and for simplicity start designing the layout on paper first before rushing to use adobe photoshop, if you know what i mean ;)

Hey, it was just a suggestion. I dont care how he decides to go ahead with it. I just decided to say something more about skinning than others do, unlike saying "read the manual". How do you do it then?

I RESPECT you because you really don't said me to "read the manual" as others. Thanks.

Hey, sorry, didn't mean to come across as being funny telling you to read the manual. There are lots of tools on the devzone that can help making skins easier. I've never skinned before, and probably never will! I'm not very creative.

Without a more specific question about skinning, reading the manual is about the only advice you would get.

When I feel like making a skin, I open up Xara X and fool around until something looks good. Then, I keep working on it until I'm happy. I never draw on paper or anything... ;)
