Using browser without Gracenote plugin

I'm trying to write a plugin that uses the music browser to show different webpages, but can't make the browser do anything without turning on the Gracenote plugin first. As Gracenote wants to go to it's own web pages when the track changes, this gives me a problem.

How do I use the browsing bit of the browser without Gracenote?
