Just to let folks know. DirectX 9.0c is now available for download. I'd set a system restore point before installation though. You never know.
Get it HERE (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0A9B6820-BFBB-4799-9908-D418CDEAC197&displaylang=en)

Isn't it included in SP2? I think it is.

It may well be included in SP2 but, as I'm on dial-up, I'm waiting for the discs to become available in shops before I install it.

Well it has been out for nearly a month...
No nead to hurry updating though if you aren't using a Nvidia 6xxx or ATi X800 chip though.
Dx9c adds SM3 support, (+ps_2b compiler profile for ATis newest cards) which isn't really that interresting for comsumers at the moment. (No games support it yet)
Probably a few fixes and efficiency improments too, but I haven't seen any benchmarks comparing the two. (Which makes me believe there is no performance gain from updating to DX9c)

After spending the last three hours playing Doom 3, I can caterogically state that I saw no performance gain whatsoever. However, now my eyes feel as though they're bleeding :skull:

Doom3 uses OpenGL, so would be quite weird if a DirectX update changed anything.
