Winamp 5.04 released today. Looks like thats going to be the last release for a long while.

It looks like Winamp's development is going to be really dead soon, since
everybody who has directly worked on it is either gone or will be gone soon.
Maybe it will get un****ed, I sure hope so.
Also (i haven't seen anyone on this forum mention) but sonique 2 has been dead for some months now, all the team being fired.

yah, i followed sonique 2's death....lycos canned the nice guys again. Nobody knows what will happen to it now because lycos is being sold and no one knows what will happen to S2 after that.....mantis is too nice to be lost forever...lol, people still keep up hope here www.soniquex.com

Winamp took a LONG time to release this version, so i am not really surprised. Kinda disapointing as they have made strides, imo. Much more stable than early versions of 5.0 .

Musicmatch v9.0, probably more bloated than any other version.

The new Musicmatch dl is 19.2 megs. Seems like it's all about their new(?) On Demand service.

Musicmatch wasn't too bad when it was just a media player. Now it seems upgrades are only related to the music selling business.

My god that things become bloated. 19.2Mb! i remeber when it was just 6! (yes i was foolish and used it many years ago...) The brilliant thing about it was that when your on an 800x600 screen res it was so big it filled the entire screen, couldn't do anything else with it loaded either... ah those where the days.
:cheeky:

Foobar is up to 0.8.3.
Don't u mean Gaybar 2000? http://gaybar2000.org/index.html

I'm too macho to use something called "foobar" and will not even bother in looking into something called "gaybar"

They could at least spell fubar correctly.

I take it you're not familiar with the traditional programer-geek spelling of foobar?

I'm a programmer and I still don't understand it. Probably some lame joke.

I figure those programmers aren't familiar with the US Army's use of fubar. You know, like the situation in Iraq.

Utterly - and I find it singularly apropos in this case. (BFEG)

I understand fubar is supposed to be f'd up beyond all recognition, I think. Not sure what the deal is with foobar.

That is indeed what it means. As to that being the case with foobar, it certainly started that way and the interface remains in that state. However, the audio quality has aparrently improved I'm told, despite it being based on the archaic and long since eclipsed vanilla mpglib (MAD is also based on that but the advanced dithering implemented by Rob Leslie set it apart from everything else).
