It's not that type of poll. More like a survey to fill out.

I only use o2x and the base skin. Every other skin I feel is too artsy and not functional. BetaMaxx is ok, but I've grown tired of it.

Just v4.20 runt mode and o2x. Mini o2x is similar to runt mode. One suggestion: put an encoder button next to playlist button.

Favourite Skin Author: well, i like me ;) not to dis' anyone else

that sounds a bit narrow-minded, i know. i designed arizona because none of the other skins at the time did what i was looking for. i intend to update it sooner or later and perhaps finish naturecraft, but i have been busy doing other things lately. i've tried various other skins at other times, but i'm still most comfortable with my own.

I don't have a single favorite. There are some I keep coming back to though. Arizona is one such. It's simple yet full featured and attractive. Ayla for its pure simplicity. Shania Twain for when I don't have anything else to do with my screen space (I love the speakers). o2x may make this list but it's too early to say yet.

Most functional skin may be Arizona. What I like most about it is that the ad/remove files for the playlist are on the main body of the player. This is the only skin I know of that does this. For functionality I look for easily readable file info, clearly labeled buttons and a time display that goes into the hundreds of hours.

Disliked skins. I won't say specifically. I will say I don't like skins that waste a lot of screen space or that are excessively busy, that have a lot of design that really doesn't do anything. Think fantasy skins.

Less functional skin. I'll answer that some of the remotes don't work for me. I like a time display in all my modes, good buttons and easy text.

Favorite author. Dan Simmons.

Suggested inprovements for o2x? An ability to hide the vis section on the main body. I might make that compact mode its own skin. It's different enough and a remote mode in that vein would be cool. I'd also make the info text darker.

Most Functional Skin:
Whatever skins that's capable of doing what I want it to at a particular moment in time :) For example, I don't often encode files - I mostly queue them up for a while then do them all in a batch. So when the time comes to encode them, I may have to switch over to a skin that supports encoding. I use the playlist and associated controls a lot, the EQ very little, the Encoder once in a while, and the Player Controls and Volume constantly.

Skin that i dislike:
It's not that I dislike any of them, I just find some of the difficult to use on a long-term basis.

Less Functional Skin:
Probably related to the items above...

Since most skin authors make skins for themselves to match their preferences, my guess would be that most would pick themselves. Not because they are conceited or think they're the best, but because their skins are always custom taylored to what they want at that moment in time.

Yup, it's a new version of Graduate. It's been modified to go along with the XP Silver theme colors so it's not quite as boring and grey anymore. It's in pretty good shape right now, but I still have to do borders and video windows and stuff. I hope to finish and post it soon.

Best/ Favorite: The list is long...(in no particular order):

Candy Glass, o2x, Graduate, Chameleo, Phaseless 2, QPM Experience 1 and 2, Betamaxx, The default skin, and one which is my own extensive mod of that "modern" port from that other player that we're not supposed to use... :biggrin:

Most functional: Tough call, I'd say the QCD 4.20.

Skin that I dislike: Windows 3000 "QSD", hands down!

Well people, here are my results for this interesting survey

Best / Favorite Skin: My favorite skin is one rather old skin that hasn't been updated in a long time, but I still keep it around and use not as often as I would like, it's assasin, I know that it is not very popular but I like it, the second one which I use regularly is Shex Satellite or one of the ports from my friend Fatal Error. I also use a lot MMD3 by Matt.

Most Functional Skin: The most functional skin is the base skin, but next to it is MMD3.

Skin that I dislike: one that is posted that looks like made in paint by a 9 year old boy, Yo Skin if I'm not mistaken. I think is like a joke.

Less functional Skin: This one is very tight with the previous one, for me the least functional skin is Yo Skin.

Favorite Skin Author: My favorite skinning mates are Fatal Error and Matt. Not ditching Xymantix or DrewKeller but I find myself using more Fatal's and Matt's designs.

Best/Favourite Skin : A port made by Fatal Error especially designed to work with 'Traycontrols'. Look for 'fastfreddy.zip' HERE (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?p=17847#post17847)

Most Functional Skin : Either fastfreddy or Asilus.

Skin that I dislike : This is difficult. As I don't have the first clue as to how to do it myself, I'm uncomfortable knocking anybody else's work. However, there have been a couple of recent efforts that are outstandingly poor. You know who you are.

Least functional skin : As above, with the addition of anything circular. My monitor is just the basic 4:3 variety, not round.

Favourite Skin Author : It's got to be Fatal Error with redrum not far behind. Having said that, the new one previewed by Xymantix elsewhere in the forums looks pretty awesome.

although i have noticed a problem with it that i think should be fixed. in the default display mode, the main window and the playlist are 2 different shades of blue. in the winamp version of this skin, they are the same shade. still remains my favorite skin due to the fact that i only use the winshade blue mode for it. awesome skin.
