Upon loading a new playlist or file, QCD freezes itself and entire Windows shell for roughly 4 seconds. It will or will not play music during this time.
Other than this, I LOVE this player! I made a very minimal skin for it already.
my tower specs -
CPU - 1100 Athlon no namer
RAM - PC133 - 768 megs
5400r HD
Using a very minimalistic skin; I'd think it would improve performance, if anything...
Any ideas?

there is no need to post redundant messages
The freeze I believe happens as QCD is checking the CDRoms. Whether the freeze occurs depends on your system, if there are CDs in the drives or not, and a little luck. But, just for the record, Windows itself is causing the freeze - for some reason it's not always fast when being asked about info on the CDRoms.

Any possibility of turning this off? Registry editing perhaps? I use CDs so rarely that I wouldn't having to go through a little extra effort to load a CD manually.

I also use CD's rarely, preferring to play the ripped copy when listening on computer. I always just de-select the CD plugin under Plugins->Input. That way QCD doesn't do anything when inserting CD's. :)

Tried it. Still freezing.
