default skin - variations?

greets everyone!

been using the qcd4.5 for a couple of months now and to tell you the truth, it's a great player, i uninstalled winamp two days after installing qcd...

still i don't really like the gapless playback since it's not accurate and does not connect songs righteous... anyway.. that's for an another topic...

so...
i have installed lots of skins avaliable from the skin browser...
and constantly watching new skins...

but.

i must say that default skin, besides it looks quite nice, does the qcd job the best...

for instance i turn on the remote and leave everything maximized, the main window, the playlist... and then i engage my web browser or explorer or something... the remote gets on top of everything but the playlist and main window gets behind the other windows...
i can see all the time what's playing, all the info and stuff and when i want to access the player, i just click on the remote and the whole playlist and main window comes up. It's just GREAT!!!!

but i haven't seen a skin that does that trick in a same way!
some of them have remote bars but they are only smaller than the main bar and what's the point of calling it 'remote' since it's not a real default skin type remote and cannot function at the same time as the deafult window and the playlist...

and remote function is probably no1 why i use qcd (next to excellent mp3 reproduction and low resource sucking)...

i would rather like to see variations on the theme of the default skin - different fonts, color, sizes, and stuff... than all these new skins that just look like they could be imported to winamp...

i don't mean to offend any skinmakers!!! but the whole point of qcd is still missing in the skins...

is anyone going to try to make a more versatile skin?

i can't speak for the other skinners, but I make skins to suite me and my requirements. I doubt I will ever make a remote or stick mode again.

I recall I read somewhere that someone did a couple of color variations on the default QCD skin... can't remember who did it or what version was.

I have a copy of that skin archived somewhere, I think. I remember it was the 3.xx version and had amber, red, and blue. I'm not sure who made the mods, but it would be relatively simple to do, I made some variations for myself, but to do it on the 4.50/4.51 skin, we would need it in qsf form, and currently it isn't available.

You'd get the body, but there'd still be all the hovered buttons and so on...

Well it is pretty easy to make a new color for a skin by changing the hue... Took me 10 min. with the base skin:

It was chicubs. Spidercrab found the skin bitmaps in branding.dll or something. I don't really remember.

I would except I really dislike the old (sound) extension, it's just not worth doing on the old skin.

Don't be to harsh, I have never done any work with a skin before. Obviously, I did not do the green one, I just included it. I only did the runt mode because that is all I ever use. So, I removed the skin control set file and edit the map.

It was 4.20, but I could not find it in the skin browser, so I just went ahead.

Its easy to do a remote and functioning like this Zoso...
You have to mark it as a new extention rather than a new mode and tell qcd from the .ini file to be on top of everything... At first I did it with o2x but I thought it was better to be as a new mode...
