At inception, as I executed the program for the very first time from the desktop icon, Win said it caused an error in KEYBOARD.EXE. Clicking 'Ignore' a few times crashed my PC once.
I tried executing QCD by clicking on a CD track, and got the Blue Screen of Death for my troubles.

I reinstalled QCD two times, restarted. Same thing. I perused the forum, nada.

I really need my daily fix of Mendelsohn's violin concerto. Please help...

Stop reinstalling... just go to QCD's preferences and check to see what general plugins you have enabled. It sounds like you are having problems with the Hotkeys plugin. If unchecking all the general plugins doesn't work then try deleting them (the filename is at the end after the description).

If you can't even get into QCD, uninstall it, delete whats left of it, re-download it. Then re-install it but when you do uncheck the general plug-ins section before install and see if that helps.

Err...how you're gonna uncheck them before installing? For ClassicalGas, some basic info from you're system could help, like what OS and so on...

You can choose which plugins you install.

Can ClassicalGas consider shutting down Keyboard.exe and then open QCD to make the plugin changes? I would assume the keyboard would still retain minimal functionality and the exe could be then restarted.

He already has QCD installed, and he was able to add a CD to the playlist. So if he unchecks/disables the general plugin(s) in QCD's preferences then they would be unloaded and if QCD still crashes they would not load the next time.

Thanks for your replies, folks.
I finally got it to REALLY uninstall. Installed all over without the plugins and I could finally play a .WAV I have on my PC. Then I reinstalled all the plugins one by one, checking to see if my .WAV would still play. When I got to the QUEUE plugin, all the problems started all over.
Uninstall-install... the rest of the plugins seem fine. I still can't play CDs though, but yesterday I think I saw a thread that adresses this problem.

Thanks again!

When I got to the QUEUE plugin, all the problems started all over.As in QueueIt?

As in QueueIt?

Yup. My QCD never digested that one. No matter, it's shareware, I think, and I'd rather not install something that'll bum out on me in a month.
No string really adressed my CD problem though. I can see the CD's tracks in the QCD window, they turn blue when I click on them, but nothing happens... I'm running ME.

Queue isn't shareware. its free. Like all bar one or three of the QCD plug-ins (mainly DSPs). When you double click a track and it turns blue, can you right click on it and see if "blocked" has a check next to it? If it does try going in to the plug-ins section on preferences and double click on the CD input audio plug-in. In "Playback Methods" tab check to see if its set to "Digital Audio Extraction". HTH :silly:

Yup. My QCD never digested that one. There has been some problems with QueueIt and Win9x that only resently came to my attention. :( Anyway, version 1.4.0 which I uploaded yesterday should fix those.

Im not sure why you think it is shareware? As far as I know there is only one plug-in in the plug-in section that is shareware and QueueIt isn't it...

maybe there is a setting in the CD audio input plugin that needs to be jiggled for your CD player to work properly.

I could Kick myself! I was trying to play a copy!
My girlfriend copies her CDs as soon as she buys them and puts the originals away for safekeeping.
So I got an original out of her 'vault' and it worked just fine.
But why won't QCD play copies, praytell? I disliked Winamp, but at least it could do it no prob'...

qcd does play copies. as far as i know its qcd will play what ever (CD wise) your CD drive will read.

Exactly! Apparently your drive is not reading the copy.

Maybe I'm completely at sea here, sorry if I am, but if Winamp could read copies, it then seems that point is moot...

If winamp can read the same CD(the copied one) you are talking about using the same drive then I agree.
