I downloaded the plugin qcdape.dll and installed it.
It should be playing ape 3.99 files but I only get blocked files in my qcd v4.51
All my older 3.97 apes were playing great with the earlier qcdape.dll
I didn't change anything else. Should I have and what ?

Tnx
Paul

What do you mean by "blocked files"? I too did the transplant and the patient lived. :)

Newer than v3.99 ?
I used to play my apes v3.97 in QCD with the dll v1.20
But the newer apes won't play in qcd 4.51 with the qcdape.dll v1.40
Even a new install doesn't help. I only get blocked files in my playlist;
blocked as if I marked them for another action.
That fact doesn't matter though. They don't play, blocked or not.
Isn't replacing the qcdape.dll enough ?

Obviously nobody else has this problem, so there is no reasonable help available.
Pitty. QCD used to play anything. I will have to search for another player to play my apes now.
Thanx

I'd hazard a guess it's something you're doing wrong. I play apes on a VERY regular basis, ranging from 3.97 through 3.99. I still don't understand what you mean by "blocked files".

All I did to install the plugin was copy it to my \program files\quintessential player\plugins directory (while the player wasn't running of course), start the player and then go to file types in the settings to enable them.

I also didn't install the winamp plugin when I installed Monkey's Audio.

Smooth as silk.

By Blocked files he means what happens when a file isn't properly recognised by QCD. It 'Blocks' them, like when you right click a file in the playlist and click block. Qcd then doesn't try to play the file again.

Collecter: Have you made sure you put the new APE plugin into qcd directory/plugins? Have you checked in preferences/ Plugins/ Input and made sure it is enabled (has the tick next to it)?

Blocked files = as if you selected/blocked them for another action.
Yes I copied the qcdape.dll to the directory \plugins
Yes I enabled the plugin again
I have all plugins and up to ape 3.99 my apes 3.97 played fine.
v3.99 made forced me to dl and install the qcdape.dll v1.40
I don't use winamp at all
Updating should be easy, but apparently is not.

And further more:
I use windows 98 on my multimedia machine; is that the problem perhaps.?

Thanks

When starting with QCD several months ago, I installed everything there was to install, plugins for input, output, dsp,, skins and so on. And all is playing fine.
Also the apes v.397. Trouble begins with v3.99 so I got the new qcdape.dll
But nothing here.. :(

Thanks for the response

Could you post a screen shot?

Actually it doesn't. just cancel the Winamp plugin part of the install and 3.99 will install just fine.

Whoa. All bets are off with that old "schtuff". I'm surprised anything bothers to support it now - it's well past the point of ancient history.

To the original poster:

Try this. Close QCD. Go to your plugins folder. Move everything out of the folder except any default plugins and the monkey's audio plugin. Open QCD and try to play the songs that didn't work. I think there might be a bad plugin somewhere in there that is effecting your ape playback.

Sometimes when you install a plug-in it doesn't quite go into the right place. Sometimes it gets put into "...\Quintessential Player\" instead of "\Quintessential Player\Plug-ins\" check that hasn't happened and, like acozz says, remove any non-default input plug-ins except the QCDAPE one.

Ancient or not, the problem appeared with the dll v.140
Everything else works, and like I said, the combo 3.97/1.20 worked too.

O, it did go to the right place allright
And I already uninstalled and removed all traces of QCD
In a clean install I unchecked the plugins and used only the qcdape 1.40.
.. and the only thing different should be -and is- the qcdape.dll

Doesn't help. If there's a bad plugin, it's bad since the new monkeysaudio.
It all worked flawlessly before.
Searching other forums on the net, I noticed that also with other players most problems began with the monkeysaudio version v3.99.
Maybe that's the tricky thing

To all respondents

The problem is solved: :knocked-o I found out there's a Winamp_input_manager which lets me use the in_ape.dll from the WA series.
That did the trick, monkeys v3.99 are playing fine now.
Version 3.97 apes are playing through the qcdape.dll v1.20 and all`s great.

Thanks for the reactions

No idea why you had the issue. This is the MOnkey's Audio plugin I used - compare it to the one you have.

Yep, that's the one. The one you can download from the plugins section, which I did (of course). Don't worry, qcd is my favo player still.
Strange thing the in_ape.dll does its job. Maybe qcdape is not 100% compatible in some situations. In combination with win98 and tricky hardware ?

Well, the monkeys and the apes are playing together nicely now..
