I followed the link, it took me to SP1 RC1, not RC2. They must have moved it, but it's no biggie, I installed SP2 RC1 a long time ago, I wasn't impressed, and basically did it on my alternate install, as an experiment.

Um well. I finally got round to installing the release candidate on my machine. All seems to be well except QCD is the casualty, the only one. If you open it it loads up shows the skin and just sits there and does nothing, hour glass ticking away and is them deemed "not responding". Marvelous. I've tried removing any default plug-ins etc, re-installed - doesn't work. Anyone else using QCD on SP2 (RC2) or shall i just format this computer? :ponder: (knows what the answer will be in advance). At least tinamp is working  without my music i'd go insaine! :knocked-o

I'm running XP SP2 (rc2) and QCD 4.50 here with no problems whatsoever tried it with 4.51 for more than just testing purposes but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary there either.

The only thing I can possibly think of that might be causing your problem is a conflict between CDDB and the SP2 firewall, but that's unlikely. I'd check t even so. Hope this helps.

SP2 detected McAfee Firewall Plus 5 and disabled its own firewall so it can't be that. Thanks for the suggestion. I think i'll just format. The idea of installing SP2 RC2 was to see if anything like this would happen and just to get used to what had changed. I really like the improvements that have been made to IE. Still it lacks the tabs - which i've become acustomed to with firefox.

i don't suppose that for some bizarre reason sp2 would have been automatically downloaded and installed on my machine
i have automatic windows updates turned on
and recently things have been going a little awry :skull:

when i go to the windows update site sp2 is nowhere to be seen and in my update 'history' sp2 isn't there either :carrot:

nah SP2 is still in beta, so it doesn't show up in your windows update list, and if its not in your uninstall list, i'd say its not installed. If you wanna make sure of it, right click on my computer, go to properties, and it should tell you in the General tab what you've got running. For instance, mine says Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 1.

well that's just sweet as then
must just be time for another reinstall ha ha ha

"sp1 xp pro 2002 etc..."

i'll be testing sp2 on my virtual machine before unleashing this ungainly sounding
'update' into the real world...

note to self : "jv16 is for people who know what they are doing!"

zap! oops , too late... :skull:
