Hi folks. I wasn't sure where to post this, so here goes. I use XP at a resolution of 1280x960 (4:3). Most of my folders are viewed in list formation, but when viewed this way there seems to be an awful lot of wasted space on the screen, between the columns. This is especially irritating when viewing my Music folders as they each contain upwards of 6000 files.

Does anyone know of a way to decrease this spacing so I can get more on the screen? Even "Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters" doesn't require all that space.

Again, any help much appreciated.

With win2k it seems to use the longest filename for all the columns. So I'm not sure if you can do much for it. Are you sure there's not any file that long?

No way, I've nothing with a filename that long.

Here's a grab of an open folder. See what I mean?

I've just checked "show hidden files" and would you believe it, Two tracks with massive file names. I didn't even know they were there. C'est La Vie. Thanks for the help Qaz.

Problem solved. :o
