So Paul/Matt, are there any new skinning features in a "soon-to-be" release QCD version? Anything you could tell us about?...you know what I want ;) ;) , but what are you going to give?

I have a pretty low-end computer, so I really don't want any more drains on resources like alpha blending. I think that it would be nice to try, but only as long as there was an option to disable it. Any thoughts?

Of course, they're has to be a disable option as I think we still have some 98 users around.

There are a lot of poor people these days. I, for example, have a 566mHz, 128 RAM computer...

Well, we also have another computer (1gHz, 256 RAM) but it really needs to be reformatted. Until then,. I prefer this one.

Well, we had this one lying around the house... We just needed a monitor and crap, so, one day... We got the stuff.. :D
Did you ever notice how off-topic these threads get?

Yeah, they sure do and quickly too.A computer is a computer as long as it can run QCD.:)

To get back on topic....if I got alpha blending I would finish Oakley, which I started, but it looked too fugly without smooth edges. The same with lcd doodle and the one I showed a few months ago. They need alpha blending.

Just think of the possibilities a skinner would have with alpha-blending.Pretty mind boggling,it would be freaking awesome.

One more time for me... Besides antialiased edges, what does alpha blending do?

Allows you to create shadows also....for me its really just the smooth edges that I want.

sorry to go off topic again, but you can get a new computer these days for $500 with software. if you try to buy the software, that can easily run you $500 just by itself.

Yeah, computers are getting cheaper, but it's funner buying in pieces and assembling yourself.I know about the software being expensive ,good thing I found a copy of photoshop 6 at a local comp store for $120 now I just buy the upgrade and save myself $400.

Don't you think we need both? I'm a graphics design student, so I know the difference between alpha-blending and anti-alias.
Anti-alias would make skins without jagged edges, now I'm using a black wallpaper so the assasin skin looks excellent, but changing the wallpaper to something brighter makes it look horrible.
Alpha-blending would make the "always on top" function to have a reason to exist. What's the point of having QCD on top if you can't see what's below it?
I personally would like to have even the visuals alpha-blended, I hope I'm not asking too much. BTW those are pretty cool skins

If there's some minimalist-mode in the skin, then it will fit over the window's titlebar. It just goes so damn small that way. Anyway, would partial transparency allow clicking through skin?

no, the window is still 100% there, just not 100% opaque.

What exactly do you mean here? The Wave fumes vis already has an option to show the background through the vis...?

No, I mean the ability to have the visuals alpha blended so you can look thru them.
