I would like to see the section on File Associations default to "no associations selected". Then I can pick the files I wish to use QCD with. As of now, all files are picked, and when I accept, the icons are all changed to QCD. Since I allready have icons for avi,mpg,mpeg,ra rm etc... which I like, it's quite a hassle to unassociate them and then get my origional icons back. This always seems to happen when I download the latest version of QCD. :(

theres a check box in the installer somewhere for file associations. i usually just uncheck that and that keeps all my existing file associations.

Why not just set QCD to use such and such an icon for those files? That doesn't get written over on install... at least, I don't believe it does.

Hi hedge and young twig. No, that doesn't work. When I install a new version (cleanly after a hard lesson :o ), the preferences already are associated with QCD. Sometimes ALL file types (including avi,mpg,etc..), sometimes just most of them. This usually includes types that I want to keep the old associations and the old icons. When I move on to other preferences, adust them to my liking, click save and close BAM! all my icons are reset. I then have to go and reassociate the ones that were messed up. Very time consuming and annoying. Starting with NO associations (default) would be easier for me to pick just what I want. I hope this is a clear explaination of my problem.
