I just started using QCD. I'm using version 4.5. I figured out how to play a stream from the internet. However, I would now like to save a short stream (30-second music sample) to my hard drive.
I read the help file "Save a Stream." I had no problem configuring stream saving. However, when I play the streaming file that I would like to save, it doesn't get saved. No file appears in my chosen folder. Should I be clicking on something to let QCD know that I want to save the stream--not just listen to it? My operating system is Windows ME. My computer is a 1 GHz Dell Pentium III.
Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

I assume this is an mp3 stream. I like to show the stream saving tool. (Right Click/Plug-ins/mp3 plug in/show save tool. I'll click on the folder icon to make sure the file is being saved to a location I can find. Then I click on the record button. This way I can see that I'm recording. You can also open the directory you're saving to with the middle button to see if a file is being created.
You also have to make sure that you're saving the file with the plugin that is actually playing the file. (Right-Click/Plug-in Browser/Plug-ins/Input) Look through the list on the right and be sure the plug-in you're trying to save with is on top of any other plug-ins that will play that type of file. If in doubt you can put it at the very top of the list.

jkrzok, thanks for replying to my question.
I went to Shoutcast and had no problem saving the stream from several radio stations to my hard drive. QCD worked very nicely.
The 30 second music stream that I was trying to save was on Amazon.com. It was a Windows Media stream. I'm still having no luck saving it, but Amazon may be trying to prevent me from saving it. (I did put the Windows Media player plugin at the top of my plugin list as you suggested.)
Thanks for your help.

I don't think the windows media plugin supports stream saving. That is to say, i've never tried myself, but i'm pretty sure of it...
