iRiver has released a fleet of flash players that support ogg out of the box rather than with add-on firmware:

http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/ifp-795.asp

http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/ifp-890.asp
http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/ifp-895.asp
http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/ifp-899.asp

There are also several hard drive-based (UGH!) ogg players:

http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/iHP-120.asp
http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/iGP-100.asp

To those who said ogg would not go mainstream:

Byte Me! :) :) :)

The iFP-895 looks like my weapon of choice. Now to get it past the financial steering committee... Aw, the heck with that - I'll just go buy it. :)

Hey, Roj, just wondering....why the "(UGH!)" regarding the hard drive based players?

Hey, Roj, just wondering....why the "(UGH!)" regarding the hard drive based players?Hard drives break - period. It's not a matter of "if" but of "when". Too many of my friends have come to grief by going that road (four at last count)...

...and an expensive road it is too.

Dem tings ain't cheap.

Does anyone know what I-Rivers MP3/Ogg CDplayers are like? I've got an RioVolt SP50 atm and to be honest i could have built a better mp3 player with a coat hanger and some stick tape. It hisses so damn much it aint even funny. If the I-River ones are better (which i'm sure they probably are - can't be difficult really) then i may just be interested. Only problem is i like to take my music with me - all 1500 tracks, which takes up about 9 700Mb Cd's worth. BTW has anyone seen this little baby, looks damn cool (features-wise) http://www.neurosaudio.com/

I would be interested, had i the money, buts that what being flat broke does for ya... Anyway, I've only heard good things about the sound quality of the iriver players, and if roj is interested, you know its gotta be pretty darn good sound quality wise. ;)

It's been around for a while - I remember writing them about a year ago to ask about it. At the time they were still kind of experimenting with ogg support. The aparrently cater primarily to the Linux crowd.

LOL.

They are pretty nice. I'm now salivating heavily and awaiting them being sku'd at Ingram Micro Canada.

Yep, I've had a iMP-400 for a couple of years and it's excellent. Great sound quality and hardly ever skips. You get some great ear-buds with too.

I'd rather have a rest from piped music when I'm out of the house; I already spend about 50% of my waking life listening to it, which seems like enough. All a matter of personal preference, of course.

Music is already running almost continuously in my house. Does so in the car too. The bus was simply a natural progression... :)

I dare say they're already working on a pod that is implanted in the user's brain for non-stop seamless playback 24 hours a day. I am functioning within normal parameters, Captain...
