I have an iPod and I use iTunes; sorry but QCD doesn't have iPOD support. Although I think QCD is much better then Winamp.

As I have been ripping my CD collection to MP3 (192bit), I find the iTunes encoding process (and an Intervideo MP3 encoder) adds a clip of silence at the end of the MP3 file. Normally, such additions aren't a problem. But there are instances where silence (even a blip of it) between tracks is not permissible (between movements 3 and 4 of Beethoven's 5th Symphony, for example).

Anyone else notice this problem? Is there an encoder out there that encodes without adding silence to the end of the track?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

QCD encodes!

Matt,

Yes. I know that. However, has anyone noticed if the QCD encoder adds "silence" to the end of the MP3 file? Or perhaps my perception is wrong. Maybe it isn't adding silence. When you play a CD, it proceeds seemlessly from track to track. I want the same thing to happen with my MP3's. Like I said, most songs end at the end of the MP3, but some of my classical selections bleed into one another.

Short of manually editing the MP3 file (or .wav) and then encoding, I was hoping to find an encoder that does append the end of the audio file.

err... right.. i misunderstood the statement.

QCD rips whatever is on the CD, so if you need to trim off some silence, try using an app called 'MP3trim'

You have just run smack into a limitation of the mp3 format. There is no way to get seamless transition form one song to the next - not truly seamless. Some players play fancy tricks and get really close but none will do a perfect job.

If you want that kind of seamless playback you need to use a format that is designed for it such as OGG Vorbis.
