Okay, this one would essentially be for me and the other SysTrayPlayer (http://www.netean.com/stp/)-likers out there. I've attached a picture of how it looks. Hopefully someone has a bit of experience with the program (it's quite straightforward) and might be interested in constructing a simple skin like this, with a few simple visual upgrades perhaps.
Some functionality notes:
That is indeed a progress bar behind the song title. I suppose this ability wouldn't be possible in QCD since clicking on the title controls the title-scrolling. (In STP, clicking anywhere in the title/progress bar moves the progress bar. The text is static.) Maybe the progress bar can be placed between the title display and the volume controls.
As for the letters (which spaces could be a bit wider): I opens the track editor; E, the equalizer; P, the playlist; and T and A (ahem) seem to just pop up a menu of all the songs in the playlist for easy track selection. They seem to do the same thing ... They might be one button -- TA.
If someone does decide to undertake this project (which, for an experienced skinner, would be fairly simple, I imagine), you might download STP if you're not familiar with it. It's a standalone program -- no install, no Registry entries. It really runs straight from the system tray. All the windows you see in the screenshot -- the EQ, the playlist, and the "MiniBar" -- are optionally shown by right-clicking the tray icon, FYI.
Too, it's my hope that I could use the resulting skin to learn more about creating simple skins for QCD (via dissecting it myself). (In a pinch, I can find something like Simple in Silver, I think it's called, to work on.) Maybe the author would allow variations to be created and posted individually or submitted for publication as part of his or her skin.
Well, let me know if you're interested. Any STP-likers out there? (It's no QCD, of course -- but it's got its ups. Incidentally, the missing source code was found, so there's a possible future for STP development.)
