Just wanted an idea so I can sort out the list that I currently have.
What are you top 5 and why or what functions do they add
for example some of the dfx ones add great clean bass that I cant live without

My top five are:
QCD Jump (general) - it allows me to type Ctrl + Alt + J system wide and just type in a fragment of a song title or artist to quickly play a song I'm looking for.

Alpha plug-in - it makes QCD become semi-transparent, and it can "solidify" when you mouseover - it really helps with skins in winshade mode, where I can just stick it up at the top of my screen without losing any visibility. (I'll post a screenshot if you want)

Queue It - Allows me to create a song queue without having to mess with my playlist, just by dragging songs I like to the queue. It now has a randomize option too.

Resumer - Although it doesn't work that consistenly for me, it can start playing your songs right where they left off when you last exited, and it's convenient.

Hotkeys (built in to QCD) allows me to control everything I need with QCD - I barely touch the player anymore. I play, pause, go to next song, change volume, all without having to deal with the player - just system shortcuts.

QueueIt - Because I made it... ;) And it is my single most used plug-in. Id like to rewrite it though since it was my first plug-in. :/ (And I would use the window more if it was skinned! Lets hope I have the time to make a qcd skin compatible skin engine soon)

QCDJump - I like that a seach box pops up when j is pressed...

QCDScrobbler - Nice project!

Quinnware Timer - Music makes me rest better... And has become 50% better since the last public release!

Hotkey - Very nice on my laptop!

Uptime - It is always nice to know how long the player has been running... ;)

Ever since I wrote Cover Art Vis, it has permanently been my visual of choice. Other than that, I don't use any other plugins.

My top 5 are, in no particular order,

Winamp plugin manager and Tara. Because some #&%* just have to use Real.

Timer. Nice for sleepy time.

MM Keyboard Support. Who needs Hotkeys or a mouse? And the buttons are so easy to find in the dark.

Scrobbler. Just to satisfy my curiosity.

MAD. Because it just sounds better.

Is the uptime plugin Tokelil mentions different from what's in the About window? I couldn't find anything like it on the plugins page.

Music DJ

Hotkeys plugin - This one has got to be the most widely used

Sonique2QCD - Can't live without it

MAD - I dont notice any improvement in audio quality, but it works fine

MM keyboard support - for the volume and mute buttons on my keyboard

Alpha plugin - very nice plugin! I don't use it at this moment though

1) MAD - MP3 decoder

2) Monkey's Audio - decodes same

3) FLAC - decodes same

4) QCD Tray Controls - adds customizable QCD controls to the System Tray area

I don't use a fifth plugin but coul dbe convinced to add Alpha Blending if it smoothed out certain skins like DigiPod.

1. Alpha
2. HotKeys
3. CrossFading DirectSound
4. Gracenote Tag Editor

I don't have a 5th, mostly because I don't like bogging down QCD with too many plugins. I just like to have it transparent (Alpha), use keyboard shortcuts (HotKeys), have crossfading, and edit tags easily. These 4 plugins provide all the shortcuts and functionality that I need. I would also say I love the tray icon, but I don't consider it to be a plug-in. It certainly helps, though.

My top 5:

Dee2 [dsp_dee2.dll]
Simply Surround [dsp_ss2.dll]
Sonique-2-QCD [QCDSonique.dll]
Quinware CrossFading DirectSound [QCDXFade.dll]
Quinware Alpha Plug-in [QCDAlpha.dll]

Didn't think about the QueueIt plugin till now... 'll try it for sure. I also like the Media Library in QMP for its customizable auto-playlist functionality; helps me to listen to all of my songs without getting too repetitive or bored. :)

I can't believe no one has mentioned the best damn DSP plugin out there: iZotope Ozone! (http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/media/ozone.html) Totally rocks with mad tube amp effects. If you haven't tried it yet cuz yer afraid the free version is too limited, try it anyway. The free version has a good assortment of presets and you can use it as long as you like without ever upgrading to the full version.

iZotope Vinyl (http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/vinyl/) for replicating the sound of scratchy old LPs. Use it with some Billie Holiday or Edith Piaf to set a spooky-mellow mood.

Resumer makes QCD the best for playing mp3 audiobooks.

As for the iZotope Vinyl... I must ask why would someone actually want scratchy vinyl sound?? :paranoid:

It just sounds cool sometimes... but only with the really old stuff or retro bands like Squirrel Nut Zippers. You definately wouldn't want to filter electronic music thru it.

Also, if you're DJing or mixing, you can recreate the sound of a warped, scratched vinyl LP.

Hey it's free, right? Try it with some old, slow jazz and you'll see what I mean.

Glad to see there's another Ozone an out there! Cheers :)

I've had Ozone for quite a while, over a year atleast... it is cool and unlike atleast one person on this site , I actually paid for it! It was worth every penny. Funny it didn't make it into my Top 5 Plugins.

coyotewrw
08-23-2006, 12:42 AM
Lol, I paid for mine too :) but some of my friends get intimidated by all the settings, so I tell them to just stick to the presets.

It's worth paying for the advanced settings, tho, cuz you can tweak the music to the nth degree.

Well, I have just installed it and there is no executable. How do I run it?

I cannot even run it without an executable. And there is nothing in my plug-ins folders / sections of either WMP or QMP.

coyotewrw
08-23-2006, 10:36 AM
The installer probably put it in the QCD folder. Look for:

C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player\Plugins\dsp_iZOzone.dll

Then copy (or move if you don't have QCD) the dll to:

C:\Program Files\Quintessential Media Player\Plugins

Then launch QMP. Ozone should start automatically. However, I have the full registered version, so you might need to talk to the devs if the above doesn't work for you.

Good luck :)

Did you get it working in QMP? I could give you some pointers then...

Protocol

Na. Never mind. Must be some incompatibility. I noticed that it hasn't been updated for a long time.

Neo
08-24-2006, 01:33 AM
I could send you the QMP update they made, They didn't update the file on THE QMP PLUGIN PAGE and I have no idea why. If you downloaded the older one here than that's why it doesn't work. If I send you the updated file... it's simple when you install, you uncheck Winamp 2,3 and 5, WMP, and Quintessential Player.

Just keep QMP checked, install and that's it. :silly:

Thanks for that Neo. Well, I have it up and running. I have played with it a little bit. Not convinced that it is an improvement yet. There certainly is a lot to tweak. I will spend more time on it seeing exactly what it can do. I noticed that one of the presets removes voice.

I am finding a lot of Media Library problems with OzoneMP. I had them without it, but more often with it.

1. QCDScrobbler.
Last.fm <3.

2. MSN / WLM plug-in.
Makes it possible for me to use one of the better features in Windows Live Messenger.

3. AMIP.
Always nice with a bound hotkey in mIRC to say "/me is listening to: blabla".

I don't use any more non-included plugins than those. :)

QCD and QMP can play real media files if you use the "winamp input plugin
manager" (search for it in the plugin section). So, just like in Winamp, you have to get the Tara plugin and the Winamp input plugin manager will recognise it and play real media files.
