View Full Version : Adding Folders from Explorer

I used to add everything by selecting a group of folders in an Explorer window and then right-clicking on the selected items and choosing "Add to QCD" from the context menu. Recently this only works on single folders, if I have any more than one folder selected it just won't send any of the tracks to QCD.
Has anyone ever encountered this problem? What could have possibly caused this? Is there a way for me to fix this?
Please help me, it was such a convenient process and I miss it dearly.

I've had a similar problem before with QCD and another application that can select it's files in this way. In my case, making a multiple selection (either files or folders) would mistakenly call up Windows' "Move Files" dialog.
This issue, as it applied to QCD, resolved itself when I just happened to reinstall WinXP for another reason, and I''ve not seen it again.
In the other application I mentioned, the issue was resolved by the developer after I contacted him about it.

In my case, making a multiple selection (either files or folders) would mistakenly call up Windows' "Move Files" dialog.Well, that's not what is happening to me. Everything appears to work fine except for no tracks get added to QCD. I can do one folder at a time: right click a folder, choose 'Open in QCD' and it works perfectly. It's when I try to add two or more folders that the problem arises: right click on the folders, choose 'Open in QCD' and nothing at all happens.

Come on, y'all. Nobody knows what I'm talking about? I'm the only one with this problem? It's starting to eat away at my life, not being able to add multiple folders to QCD with one mouse click.
Right-click loading a group of folders works fine for me. What version of Windows are you running?

Have you tried using 'Add to QCD' instead?
Edit: oops, it might help if I read the thread thoroughly in future... :p
The only thing I can think of trying is an uninstall and a clean reinstall :( . I have never experienced this problem.

I'm running Windows XP. I'm also using the latest release of QCD. I have been experiencing this problem for the last few releases of QCD and I don't think that it has anything to do with this problem.
It used to work flawlessly for me, but at some point it would no longer react to my attempts to load 2 or more folders via the context menu. I've tried to recall if I had installed any new software at the time that this problem arose, but I haven't been able to narrow it down.
This isn't a "Waahh, my QCD is broken!"-post, it's more like a "Hey, people that are smarter than me...what do you think is causing this so that I may fix it."-post. It's really starting to drive me nuts. I love that damn ability.

I wish I can help, but I can add folders with no problem at all.

Ok, this morning I uninstalled QCD -- followed by a fresh re-install. This still didn't fix my problem as I was hoping it would. It's perplexing to say the least.
/me shakes fists at sky
Is the problem only with right-click 'Add to QCD'? Can you drag-n-drop a bunch of folders and have them load?

Yeah, I can add files into QCD any other way without any problems. It's only the right-click options that are broken. It won't take more than any one item. I can load 1 folder with the right-click menu but any more than that and it refuses the whole lot. Similarly, I can add just 1 file without problems but the selection and attempted loading of 2 or more files results in nothing being loaded at all.
Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem. If you select all folders then right-click and Play or Add in QCD, Windows will try to start a QCD for each file instead of adding them all to the same.
The "Move Folder" bug has occured to me as well...
I think it's a Windows Bug rather than a QCD bug...
I use XP, but had the same problem in 98 and ME.
