View Full Version : Can't load some discs

I've just picked up 4.5, which looks really nice so far. Problem is, some of the discs that I have (Dido - No Angel, for example.) won't load when I put them in the player. When I go to "Load CD", it lists the drive as empty. Discs play fine with other players, and I didn't have a problem with the previous version. After trying to execute the program by loading a track from Explorer to QCD, I can finally get it to recognise the disc, but I can't rip a track. I have no problem ripping from EAC.
Any thoughts?

Completely random thought of the morning : Didn't that CD in particular have people moaning because it had protection on it? Maybe something changed on your system (or maybe in QCD in the version change) that "triggered" that protection?
Of course, it is early in the morning and I'm now off to work...so that could be a load of crap =)

you are informed correctly man this has been posted somewhere else in the audiophile section methinks... i'll go find the link...
ok here we go if you filter through it you'll see mention of dido i couldn't see a particular title but there is some info in there for you (thelongshot) click here (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=691&page=1&pp=20&highlight=dido)
Funny, just few days back QCD encoded a copyprotected CD without any problems. And actually it didn't do it previous time I tried (with an older version). But is that Dido CD from what record label?

Do you have digital audio extraction turned on? (Configure CD input plugin)
I remember specifically the Dido being copy protected 'cos as soon as I finished reading an article on that copy protection I found a copy to dl.

I thought it was the "life for rent" album that had copy protection. could be wrong tho... as i'm sure i've ripped no angel... :cheeky:

The brand of CD drive seems to make a difference. Check this post (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12102&postcount=42).

I had no problem ripping the CD with EAC, so I don't think copy protection is the problem.
Anyways, I had another CD that I was going to rip a song from, and it rebooted my damn computer.
