OK, this is more like an annoyance than a proper bug, but here it goes anyway: I download a plugin (say, the LAME encoder, because I think LAME rules :) ) and try to install it; by default QCD wants to install it in C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player\Plugins which sounds perfectly reasonable; I install it, flush the plugin cache, load newly installed plugins, and either a. it tells me that there isn't any new plug in or b. it says OK but then I can't find the LAME encoder under options -> plug-ins. restarting QCD does nothing either.
if (and this is the weirdest problem) during installation I try to change the directory in which I want the plug-in to go (say, C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player) it WON'T LET ME install it there. at all.
after fiddling with it (have been doing it this way since version 4, actually) I found that the best solution for this is to change the plug-ins directory from preferences -> plug-ins and make it C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player, then go into the C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player\Plugins directory, copy all the dll's there and paste them in C:\Program Files\Quintessential Player, close QCD, open again, flush cache, load new plug-ins, problem fixed, it now sees them all and they all work fine.
btw, this happens with ALL plug-ins, not just with LAME. just curious whether anybody else has had to deal with this? again, it's but a mild annoyance, and once you get the hang of it, it really isn't that much of a problem, especially since the plug-ins are tiny and the dll's are easy to find+copy+paste.
oh, and this is happening in W2K.

p.s. Paul old mate, wicked work on QCD 4.50 - just quite HOW you manage to SHRINK the file size while ADDING features and enhancing stability is a permanent source of wonder for yours truly. thanks again.

The only time I have had to move a plugin .dll was when installing a plugin designed for WinAmp. Other than that, the default install has always worked fine. I am also using Win2k.

No problems with me either and I'm running win 2k too. If I remember right most plug-ins have with me showed path D:\QCD instead the D:\QCD\plugins but that's the only clue I can give.

Are you using a multi-user install?
