i think its time i got a bigger and better cpu fan for me computer, y u ask, hmmm might have something to do with the 60 degrees its running at like constantly, without any load that is...
So nebody got any recommendations for a good fan, that will run reasonably quiet, and still keep my cpu < 50 degrees?
I've heard the thermaltake ones aren't too bad, but a friend of mine has one, and its so bloody noisy...
btw athlon 2700+

hey,
I recently bought a new CPU and a friend of mine recommended i get this:
Zalman CNPS7000A
http://www.zalman.co.kr/usa/product/cnps7000a-cu.htm
http://www.a1-electronics.net/Heatsinks/2003/Zalman_7000A-Cu_Sept03.shtml
there is a review of it. Its a HUGE fan. I never got it because I just stuck with the one i had.
Zalman CNPS7000ANot too cheap:)
You can always try good Glacialtech or Thermalright with slow 120mm fan attached.

On one of the latest custom machines I built for a friend I used the Thermaltake Spark 7 (P/N:A1715)
Noise level was tolerable, but the performance is great, however this one is for P4, but they have great solutions for Athlon as well.

damm that CNPS7000A is a real nugget, sounds like it would solve the 60 degree and the noise issues though, so if it will actually fit in my case without the PSU getting in the way, im gonna get it. thanks for the tip.
edit: hmmm price hey, why do i never actually think about that until i look at the bill :) ahhh well... ill see what thermaltake have got, the rest of my system is pretty noisy neway, so if the cpu fan makes a little noise it wont matter tooo much...

I have a Vantec Aeroflow for for my AMD which works just great. My CPU is a 2100+ but, if I remember correctly, people were reporting good results with them for the 2700+. (There may also be a newer model of this, I bought it 8-9 months ago.) At the site I just checked, the Aeroflow was 40% less than the Zalman 7000. It's also not as ridiculously huge as most of the Zalman models.

Vantec defintely gets my vote. Excellent cooling and whisper quiet. It's definitely the best of both worlds. They also make terrific case fans - I have an Antec case and it's populated with Vantec Stealths and not the noisy Antec crap.

I have a computer...
No, seriously. I have what I have and don't care that much. Yeah... of course it could be better, but I don't need it. NOr do I want to spend my (low amounts of) money on it.

I have a great fan, keeps the CPU at 30 degress and it never goes above 47 during a DivX encode w/ 100% CPU usage...unfortunately it's for P4 made by Intel...sorry, I'm an Intel fan!
