Looks promising. Will there be any provision for equalizer, playlist, etc? I like the clean look, it would be a shame to clutter it up, but most of us do like to play with our toys. ;)

Haha. :D
It's a little small, but nice and clean.

The player itself wouldn't have to be any larger, but the screen and buttons really could. I like the font used on screen.
Cool skin! I want it with alpha blending.

Or we could just get alpha-blending...

i dont think qcd will ever get alpha blending :(
this goes to paul: why cant you code a png space behind the skin so that all objects are still bmps but shadows (or the anti-aliasing) could be in the png... and if you are already doing that add another one on top of the skin so you can add light reflections on displays above the text

How about everything is just PNG and you can add PNGs on top of the player. (I suppose you could do that by adding it as an extension, but then you'd have a lot less extensions to use.)

Ahh this age old discussion... We'll never get over this one! :-) Anyway, the 1/3 extra RAM usage would be quite nasty IMO. Not to talk about the CPU usage which is quite high in B76 (thought I was using B77 but that wasn't the case apperently) when using skins with resizable playlist. Im still for a fast and small player that looks cool. And if Paul doesn't think this is possible with AA/alpha blending then so be it... (Btw. Am Im the only one looking forward for the next couple of weeks when we'll see the next. gen. graphicscards with 16 pixelspipelines ? Sweet....)

I could care less about freakin cpu usage and so would a lot of people with PCs from 2001 up Let the low techs have the old incredibly stable/low usage builds and give us alpha blending!

Doesn't alphablending only work with win2000/xp?

Think of Winamp 5. In preferences, there is an OPTION to turn on/off alpha-blending.
Word.

Oooooooh, you mean that it takes away the jagged edges, like anti-aliasing in 3D games?

That's what it does. And adds the ability to use shadows and such.

OMG, so that's what all the fuss is about. Why is it so important? Everyone uses a high res desktop nowadays anyway, those pixels are minute! As for shadows, windows xp can do that i believe or else some other programme out there (like ati hydravision).

It doesn't bother me if it has it or not,i haven't made a skin in so long i think i forgot how to.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here with XP have anti-aliased fonts turned off?

Yep, they're just annoying, become blurry when using a high res... (1600*1200 word.)

I have it turned on. Makes fonts, especially BIG fonts looks so much better without the straircase effect on the letters (ie jagged edges).

(Like thread titles on PHPbb forums.) So, why not have alpha-blending?

Easy man, I never said im against alphablending. I just never came across it, thats all. I dont use winamp too. So please dont start arguing about it and think im stupid.
btw, visualisations have nothing to do with it, so give me a break will ya.

I don't think you're stupid... I just want to agree with me. :)
Personally, aliased edges just completely piss me off. At church, the computer which runs powerpoint runs Win98, so, all the fonts have aliased edges. :puzzled:
Visualtizations don't do much for me anymore. I used to really like them, so, I can understand where you're coming from. :)

I use 1024x768 and they're very obvious on my 15" flat panel. :P
I'd really like to see the feature added. Would the support for alpha cause any notable increase in CPU or memory usage if the skin doesn't take advantage of it? I don't know, since I've not programmed such a thing
