I went and saw this movie last week... and I thought it was great! After seeing the movie i went and read some reviews and I was surprised to find out most people hated it!

what did you think of it?

my thoughts: it was less philosophical and there seemed to be a whole lot less dialog, but wow was the action ever bloody intense. I think I enjoyed this movie more then the 2nd mostly because of the sense of finality it gave. It left a lot unanswered, which some might say is a bad thing but i thought it was a good way to leave things. Gives you something to talk about when you leave the theatre. I enjoy movies that cause a big discussion afterwards.

The way they left it, I can see them doing something else with the franchise.. anime perhaps? who knows.. but i don't think we've seen the last of neo.

Every review I read was negative, but every person I talked to said it was WAY better than the 2nd but not quite as good as the first.

I didn't see it. I missed the second one and kinda forget what the first one was about. I heard the ending sucked.

WARNING: SPOILERS... do not read if you haven't seen the film -admin

This is the end of the series, the producers said no matter what there wont be a next version of the Matrix. I think is one of the best action films this year together with the Lord of the Rings.

The end (for me) was wrong. I would liked to see Neo and Trinity as the heroes alive and well and maybe having baby Neos all over the place or repopulating Zion again? :)

I enjoyed every second of it and I'm planning to watch it again. I guess what people don't like is the fact that Neo died, but this movie is lossely based on Japanese anime and most of the times the hero dies, but still in my opionion is one of the coolest movies ever. Not only by the FX but the story, the performance of the cast, the whole thing it's awesome. I mean this movie costed many millions so it is meant to kick ass.

It also has so many subtle spots that are from religions and things that in my opinion gives the audience (at least those interested or the fans) many things to think about, moral and filosofical points of discussion.

Maybe "Neo" (the QCD Forum member) will join this forum and give his opinion.

BTW what is your favorite quote?
The Matrix: "... so what do you mean, that I can dodge bullets?"
Reloaded: "... the problem is choice"
Revolutions: "... it ends tonight"

1) If the Architect does follow through with the plan to unplug the other humans:

a) What will the machines use as an energy source?

b) How will the unplugging of the humans occur? Considering the billions of humans who are still plugged in, compared to the relative few free humans in Zion, I doubt that ALL the humans could be unplugged at once. There simply wouldn't be resources to explain the situation to them, or provide food and shelter for everyone, or help newly unplugged humans rebuild their atrophied muscles.

c) Remember in "The Matrix" when Morpheus explained to me that they have a rule not to unplug humans after a certain age, because it can be overwhelming and "dangerous"? How does this factor in with the plan to unplug everyone?

2) I would be cautious to trust the machines with peace. Exactly what does "peace" between the humans and machines mean? And if the machines do break the peace and invade Zion, the humans are screwed; every single ship they had has been destroyed!

3) The Oracle seemed to think, I would be seen in the Matrix again. What exactly happened to me?

a) Is my body dead and my soul is in the Matrix?

b) Did my melding with Smith kill my soul, leaving my body inhabited with Smith's soul (aka Bain style)?

c) Will I eventually wake up and be rescued by some humans (difficult when the humans have no ships!)?

d) Will the machines deliver me to Zion, as a corpse or alive? Or will my body remain in 01 indefinitely?

e) If I am still alive in body, can my eyes be repaired?

f) Am I just plain dead?

4) Regarding Trinity...

a) Why did they have to kill her?! WHY WHY WHY!!! She was so POWERFUL and SEXY and just plain AWESOME! Why did the Wachowski Brothers do that?! I'm absolutely heartbroken!

b) Considering the plugs all over her body, she's kind of a cyborg already... Can't I (If I'm still alive) make some kind of deal with the machines or get a good doctor to fix her with machine parts??? Shouldn't the machines or the humans have the technology for something like that?!

c) Would I have been able to face Smith the way I did and allow Smith to meld with me if Trinity had still been alive? Did Trinity's death leave me with no will to live (beyond a duty to save Zion) which allowed me to sacrifice myself thus? If Trinity had still been alive, would I have refused Smith's melding in order to go home to Trinity, thereby dooming Zion?

5) Is there any way to "un-scorch" the skies? Maybe the machines have the technology to, but simply prefer to use the Matrix-plug-human-battery thing in order to shut up the pesky humans.

6) What about the love triangle thing between Morpheus, Naiobi, and Jason? What's going on there? My advice to Naiobi; Jason's a pessimistic meanie, dump him and go back to Morpheus!

I think you nailed it right there. I thought neo would be resurected by the machines and act as a diplomat between human and machine worlds. He would become a program just like the oracle, and the architect.. the 'god' of the matrix (if you will).

From what i remember the architect said he would unplug those who wanted to be set free, i'm not sure if he said he would free them all did he? I think a big theme in the whole trilogy was our dependence on machines and theirs on us.. so I think the end result of the relationship between the machines and humans is that the matrix will remain for those who are too old and for those who do not want to be freed (ones like cypher). People will be given the choice to enter and exit the matrix by free will (choice, another major theme in the film). The remaining population in the matrix will power the machine world until they are able to find a more peaceful power solution.

Not sure about trinity.. I doubt neo would want a 'fake' computer program trinity.. or a cyborg trinity since he is so interested in the 'real world'... who knows..

1) the architect did not say he was going to unplug all of the humans, only the ones that wanted to be unplugged. this accounts for b and c also.

2) the peace is not expected to last. and it will most likely be the humans to break the peace, if you follow the logic of the architects statement about him keeping his word.

3) the parallels to jesus are so many, i would not be surprised at all if neo is somehow 'resurrected.' consider the parallels suggested in his 'death' scene

personally, i was disappointed in the movie as a whole, but i guess recovering from the second movie would have been quite difficult.

the first movie was most excellent. it was the story of neo's discovery and learning. that feeling of the wonder and mystery of discovery was lost in the 2nd and 3rd installments. instead, it falls into the normal 'save the world' plot with some philosophy and religion thrown in. there are no real surprises (except for ones that don't fit, like neo knocking out the squiddies in the real world) - neo knows he is the One, morpheus blindly believes neo is the One, some other people say he is not, blah blah blah. the guys that rescue neo in the 1st movie are super cool guys in trenchoats and shades, totally different from everyone else in the dream world. reloaded introduces the world of obiwan kenobes in zion, which is kinda cool, but nothing like what was represented by morpheus et al in the 1st movie. revolutions doesn't introduce anything new in the way of fashion. if 2 and 3 had stunningly creative effects, i missed it. nothing that blew me away like the slow motion rotational scenes in 1 that have been emulated in many instances since then. the truck explosion, the ghosts, and the buildings in neo's backwash are sorta cool, but i wasn't blown away by them and i don't think they will be as influential.

however, the fight scene at the end was really good. it was grand and epic, a battle between superheroes, a demon and an angel battling in the sky. just really cool. but i noticed some repetition of sequences which i thought should have been avoided.

my girlfriend noticed about 5 mistakes in the editing in her first sitting. something about the oracles bracelet and something about her cigarette. the mystery of trinity's disappearing plugs, i think after neo wakes up in the real world. hm, i can't remember what else.

sure, if you're looking for a tense action movie, it's really great and i'm sure i'll see it again while it's still in the theater. but it sure missed that something else, je ne sais quoi, that the first movie nailed on the head.

I thought Part3 was awesome, much better than Part2, not quite as good as Part1. The CGI was unbelievable. Those swarms of calamari were definately worth seeing on the bigscreen. There were a few things that I could nitpick about it if I had to. The most prominent annoyance for me was how long it took Neo to realize that the traitor on board the ship was actually Smith. I mean, nobody ever called him "Misstterr Anndderrssonn" but Smith! Especially not outside of the Matrix! I was sitting in the theater whispering to myself "Neo ... dude ... that's Smith, man! Kick his ass, man! Can't you see that's Smith! Get 'im!" Don't get me wrong though, I loved it and can't wait to see it again.

Now you can all flame me for nitpicking one of your favorite movies!

Yeah, but like when I said "it's impossible!", I didn't want to think that could actually be Smith, I thought Bane was just playing some weird game or something.

Hey....

I thought the effects of the squigees (or whatever the heck they called those things) were incredible...

when they break through the first wall and all the human machines firing at the hole... man i was sitting on the edge of my seat!! soo cool.

I also loved the voice of the machine leader... man in those huge THX theaters, its sounded pretty intimidating.

I would say the movie was a spectical for the senses opposed to the first one which stimulated the brain, and imgaination (also the senses). There was sense of newness and freshness in the first that no other sequal or spinoff could ever hope to achieve. That has to be taken into consideration when watching these movies... of course it will never match the feeling of the first, so forget about that and just let the story play its way out.
