Anybody have any recomendations on a good 19" monitor? My Compaq just blowed up and I need a good replacement. I am trying one from Staples which is a Envision? It's made in China. Anyone ever use one of them? What brand would you suggest? I would like to have a flat panel but I can not afford one of them. I do want a flat screen on the one I get. Thanks!
Try Mitsubishi 930SB and Phillips 109P40.

Philips is good quality, i have a philips monitor as well
If you're looking for a multifunctional monitor (this is, you use it for many task including text editor, games, etc) Mitsubishi's Diamondtron is the best. Monitors using this tube includes Mitsubishi own line, Philips and Nec.
For graphic design, DVD movies and apps where you need solid color representations, the best is a Sony FD-Trinitron monitor, including Sony's own series, Sun Microsystems, etc.

I would personally recommend the NEC FE991 SB... I'm currently using the previous model, the FE950+, and its a great CRT. I'm not sure who produced the tube itself, but whatever, thats inconsequential. It's a flat aperture grill, so you get the flat front with little to no distortion, unlike a shadow mask version. As well, the refresh rates for higher resolutions are great, I run mine at 1280x1024x85 hz. The only downside is that it is a little more expensive than some seemingly equivalent monitors, but if you're willing to spend the extra for great quality, you won't be disappointed.
In any case, my two cents.
I guess I'll toss in my 2cents.
I have a samsung 955df. Its a pretty 'entry level' monitor but it works quite well! no problems with in 3.5 years.
Its really cheap too.. $280 CDN.
My next monitor is going to be a 19" LCD. Anyone got any tips for LCDs?
