View Full Version : B72 and messed up skins
A note to developers and users of beta skins:
I recommend deleting 'skinpref.ini' in your skins folder to reset the settings for your skins. This may aleviate some of the issues caused by updating to B72.
Developers, if you made use of the following skin settings, your skin will not work correctly in B72 until you update them according to the new format:
bodyLimitSize=
extNlimitsize=
bodydefaultsize=
extNdefaultsize=

What is the 'new format'?
My Post-Graduate skin (the B71 Resizable one posted in the forums) is all fUx0red...
Once I was able to get it working again (not via changes to script, just futzing around in the QCD app itself), I found a few 'bugs'... either related to my own mis-use of the settings you specify, or real new B72 bugs... not sure.
My skin uses the settings as such:
bodydefaultsize=140,0
ext1defaultsize=140,31
Is this the wrong format? What is the right format (?), because unless I am on crack (always a possibility) I don't see updated documentation...
Now, as for an 'error'...
Deleted any skin.ini files, so QCD starts up nice & fresh with no old settings.
I selected my Post-Graduate skin.
It comes in very much screwed up. It's smaller than it should be, controls are missing & misplaced. I search around & find a small resizing control in the upper-left corner area. I drag it left & the skin appears to be dragged in space, but not resized. I drag it right & the skin seems to 'window' the correct skin but at the wrong size. Far enough right & the skin is entirely visible, though, very small (the small size it is unsized in the .BMPs of the skin).
Now, once entirely visible, I can drag the Right resize bar on the skin (the rightmost few pixels) and it appears to work correctly. However, if I drag the Left resize bar, it doesn't allow me to size down (aka drag right) at all, and a drag to the left just 'windows' the skin with the current size, quickly making the play controls non-visible...
Exceedingly odd behaviour.
The playlist has _none_ of these issues.
Is this a skin error? A QCD error? I'll fix it as soon as I have info =-]

I have a couple of beta skins are that are also really screwed up. I have looked at the skinning updates and so far can't see anything obvious that is causing the upset. I will continue to investigates this.

Well I just deleted the skinpref.ini again and reinstalled B72 and all appears to be OK now.

Delete your skinpref.ini.
Well, that's what I get... searching for new info by looking for 'new posts'... you just reused an old one? :)
Anyway, my 'drag from the left' error, even after fixing the skinkid.ini changes is very much still in effect. Check out the pic below I made of a left-handle drag... not what one would expect... what might I be missing?

Don't know. Send me your skin and I'll see if it's my fault.

It's this Skin: Post-Graduate - resizable for B71 (http://www.quinnware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1159)
I made very, very minor changes to the skinkid.ini file:
bodydefaultsize=0,0,140,0
ext1defaultsize=0,0,140,31
But without those changes, the error is still the same, except the skin starts out wrong instead of being able to be dragged 'wrong'...

Just FYI, how Post-Graduate appears on my machine (B72; XP).

Also, QCD's default skin might not work if you don't erase this file. Take note for the final release (that surely will be installed over the previous).
