I am having some problems with my ogg vorbis encoder. I get the error message "Could not open encoding plugin! Stopping encoding."

It may have to do with permissions under XP. I use it under a limited account. I had to give change permissions to the cddb folder for that to work, as well as qcd.ini so that the settings could be saved. It doesn't make any sense to give change permissions to a dll, so I'm not sure how to get it working. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm not sure that this is the same issue. But there was a bug on the similar front that was fixed in 4.11. Download the new version and test.

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the ogg vorbis encoder plugin and installed it as an administrator on Windows XP. I can encode oggs fine as an admin. But the player crashes with the same message when I try to do the same thing as a limited user.

I'm using version 4.11. The fix Paul mentioned doesn't seem to make a difference.

Are you able to encode to other formats, like MP3?

Nope. MP3 and WAV encoding doesn't work as a limited user. Everything seems to work OK as administrator. In all cases I get the dialog with the error message. Sometimes QCD Player crashes, sometimes it doesn't.

It's gotta be a permissions thing.
