I just installed the 'freeware' MSN messenger plus, and made the mistake of not reading things through properly. Now about two hours later, after installing Ad-aware and spybot S&D, and manually checking for open processes and through the registry for strange looking entries, i think i may have a computer without lop.com crap present nemore.
Paul, you are to be congratulated for keeping QCD spyware free, and not stooping to the level of other programmers of 'freeware' and hiding spyware and adware throughout this great audio player.
QCD is, and shall always be the best player out there, not just because of audio quality, plugins or great skins, but because of the integrity of its creator.

I've been using QCD since 1.21 because it always is an incredible package deal

Sorry but you did the classic "extend foot, take aim, FIRE" sequence. :D
I love Messenger Plus! - I find it indispensible. It has also been many *years* (at least five) since I did a blanket install and not a custom - of *anything*.

Word to the wise...

Oh, and I have long since given up trying to heap kudos on Paul - I simply couldn't think of any more accolades than I have already heaped upon him in spirit.

A Writer Of Quality Code - and a Canuck to boot. Surely Heaven smiles upon us...

Aah, can't you just feel the love in here? :rolleyes:Ahhh, but it's so well deserved.

CoolPlayer offered great sound but embarked on an utterly foolish course of IMO useless (for a minimalist player) and thoroughly buggy upgrades and thus was dissed. Winamp 3 was a bloated piece of crap and while 5 is definitely an improvement, it's too little too late and is still markedly second rate in the sound quality department. Sonique isn't even an also ran. FUBAR has an interface only a tremendously doting mother could love and while the sound quality has *finally* arrived at a decent level, the program still comes across as a massive kludge.

In contrast, QCD has kept on course with steady improvements, a mostly user-friendly interface (I say "miostly" because a larger playlist would be a definite asset), unsurpassed sound quality, a rich feature set including eye candy, a decided lack of bloat in terms of both processor and memory utilization (something that even the originally - but no longer - minimalist FUBAR cannot claim), a marked lack of bugs in comparison to its "competion" and a dedicated author and support team (including the user and plugin writers) committed to keeping it so.

I think that sums it up quite succintly.

One gives credit where credit is due and the same for censure. :)
