WMA to Mp3 conversion

Hello...

I have downloaded the latest plugin for Windows media audio codec. When I check my preferences Windows media encoder plugin v1.11 is present. So everything seems ok. However, i cant seem to open WMA files into a playlist so that I can convert them to MP3 format. When I try to open a folder of music that contains WMA files, nothing happens, the files do not get loaded into the playlist... can anyone help?
