View Full Version : mp3 to mp3
I'm trying to batch process a bunch of mp3's without dsp to mp3 with dsp effects. I've tried by adding all of them to the playlist then selecting all to convert. It then asks me if I want to stop playback to encode I select yes, it starts to encode, but nothing shows up in my encode folder. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to output to wav, then back to mp3? tia, D
btw I've tried this with build 69 and 71
1) I don't think it's possible to save a stream with DSP effects applied, as I'd immagine DSP is the last thing done before it gets sent to the output plugin.
2) Eeeeewwwww!!! Why on earth would you want to do that to your poor MP3s? Even if you didn't apply any DSPs, just reencoding MP3 to another MP3 will have a serious impact on the file's sound quality. Adding DSPs would only worsen the situation. (Setting aside my opinion that pretty much all DSP plugs suck here.) Plus the damage would be irreversible (unless you kept the originals, of course). Seriously, unless you've got a damn good reason why you need this, you're better off just playing back the original files + DSP as normal.

This might be the best solution, but what if debu wants to burn her MP3's with the DSP effect? I guess a better solution would be to write them to WAV with the processing to avoid quality loss. Or you can encode at a higher bitrate to avoid this as well (It's a suggestion, I know no quality will be added, but we have to stop trying to impose our tastes and preferences to the rest of the forum) but undoubtedly you will lose quality anyway.
thanks for the responses...I just wanted to do this so that I could listen to the mp3 in my ipod with some surround effects. Looks like I'll be sticking to the internal eq...
They gave you reasons as to why you may not want to do mp3->mp3 conversion, but they didn't say that you can.
Just set the DSPs how you want them, then right click in the playlist and choose 'convert->convert all to->mp3'. The DSP effects will be part of the output files.
