If you can get your cassette deck to your line input in the soundcard you can record it and later burn it to a cd.

He'll need a preamp stage between the deck and his line-in. I'd go from the deck to a receiver or integrated amp and then out from the Tape Out on that receiver / amp to the line-in of the soundcard.

Yeah. I forgot about the preamp. But what about if the deck has line level output? I guess it's enough to feed the line in...
