I swear, those guys must come with genetically installed kneepads...

Personally, both formats are pure unmitigated garbage. The lossless WMA stuff lacks comprehensive methods of ensuring that the material has been encoded properly. You want decent lossless? Try APE (Monkey's Audio) or FLAC.

AAC?

Lossy crap.

With a price tag attached, no less, not to mention the filth known as DRM.

And sold at a lossless price tag too.

And the worst part?

The lemmings in ConsumerLand will lap it up and why? because the all-knowing geniuses at ZDNet have proounced it so.

At least the folks at Hydrogen Audio know what they're saying SOME of the time (when they're not wallowing in religious self-indulgence, that is).

<sigh>

You missed this, in the first paragraph:-

"Almost everything is re-ripped at a nice high bitrate that stands up to a well-trained ear and quality audio equipment".

Garbage In, Garbage Out

Although, this has got to be one of the funniest lines in the article:

The other week, when we ran a bunch of Linux articles and reviews, we were accused by some in the forums of ignoring Windows and Microsoft.

Can someone please point me to a forum where they criticize you for ignoring, or dissing Microsoft? :ermm:

I hope you're only talking about iTunes-provided aac files... I am inclined to assume that anyway.

Oh man, 'neat quality demos' my big foot. Why not as well mention that the LAME encoder version used was outdated centuries ago too?

I wonder how much he gets for all that flattery and deceptive marketing?
