View Full Version : Update: New Rating Calculations
Hey all,
the rating calculation formula has been changed to disregard ratings by the author of a given upload. This just stops authors from skewing the ratings by automatically giving their skin/plugin a rating of 100.
This ensures that the ratings are a true indication of what the public thinks.
To the authors, you are still able to comment on your skin/plugin, but the rating you enter won't count in the calculation.
This is not a negative thing, just a change to make the ratings more accurate.
cheers!

Hey, even Paul Martin gets to vote for himself at least once. http://www.quinnware.com/forum/images/emots/post/silly.gif
On a side note, people actually posted their own skin with a 100 ranking? Aha.

Has this really been a problem? What I've usually seen is that author has given whatever was the user-rating at the moment.
But yes, this is a good thing. Are you able to post several comments then (in order to comment the comments).

Great news Matt! :cyclops: I have refrained from posting comments for my plug-ins because I wouldn't change the rating of them.

Good to hear. This is the reason we changed the implementation.

I hope the comments threads wont evolve into problem solving etc. though.

That's why we limit it to one post per user.

Hi folks.
In my opinion the default skin is the best one. Given this, shouldn't it be included for rating. If only to be used as a yardstick.
Just a thought, not a complaint.

Oh no, I'm invisible to all but myself. Never mind, that's my 100th post. I'm having a party.

Is somebody posting in here? There's quite a large gap between mine and Paul's post, I wonder why? ;)
